It was a few years ago, during a discussion about television, that a teenager raised a problem she saw with the soap operas targeting her age group, Neighbours and Home & Away. While at her school she was surrounded by people of Lebanese, Greek and Asian background, these programs seldom depicted any, “and when they do it’s so tokenistic,” she said. “It’s just not presented as normal like it is in our day-to-day lives.”
